Kiln Dried Blue Gum Firewood

Our best-selling firewood — kiln dried to a consistently low moisture content, so you get Blue Gum's long-lasting heat and excellent coals, ready to burn.

Blue Gum is a high-density hardwood that burns hotter and for longer than softer woods. Although it costs more per load than softer firewood, its longer burn time and sustained heat can make it a very cost-effective choice for winter heating.

Why choose Blue Gum?

Blue Gum is particularly well suited to customers who want long-lasting heat and excellent coals.

Because of its high density, Blue Gum performs best when added to an established fire with a good hot base. Start with Pine or a medium-density wood such as Oregon, Larch or Macrocarpa, then add Blue Gum once the fire is up to temperature.

Once established, it provides a consistent, long-burning fire, while its excellent coaling characteristics help it continue producing useful heat for an extended period.

Kiln Dried

Our Kiln Dried Blue Gum has been dried in a controlled kiln environment, removing moisture and producing consistently dry, ready-to-burn firewood.

The high temperatures used during kiln drying also help kill or reduce mould spores and other microorganisms naturally present in wood, making it a particularly convenient option for storing and using around the home.

Wood size

We cut most of our firewood to approximately 10–12 inches (25–30cm). This is the standard size supplied with online orders.

As with all natural firewood, individual pieces will vary slightly in size and shape.
